Supervisor - Permanency

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing supervisory services to the program staff and administration planning services in collaboration with the Director of Programs. Must be able to think and function independently and make sound decisions and judgments regarding a wide variety of staff and programmatic issues. Responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the program. Also, may provide direct service to agency permanency clients if needed due to very high caseloads or the need to provide services in a confidential manner. Worker is required to have a valid driver’s license, and access to reliable transportation is essential.

Job Duties:

• Supervises Adoption, Foster Care, Child Welfare, and SWAN programs.
• Screens and interviews applicants for direct service positions
• Maintains contact with referral and collateral agencies.
• Ensures supervisees maintain case records per agency policy and that they do so in a timely manner.
• Sets clear expectations of worker’s performance, an accurate evaluation of performance, and goals for future growth.
• Monitors adequately workers’ duties including absenteeism and/or tardiness.
• Represents administration to workers and workers to administration.
• Understands the theory and practice of social work and communicates it to staff.
• Utilizes the four styles of Situational Leadership.
• Provides support to staff, including challenging them and assisting them in growing as a worker.
• Demonstrates coordination skills in working with families, staff and other agency personnel.
• Establishes a professional relationship with the client.
• Acts in accordance with the Social Work code of ethics.
• Demonstrates an understanding of community organizations and their purposes.
• Demonstrates appropriate assertiveness skills.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences plus five years supervised experience. Knowledge of child welfare system. Successful completion of a Supervisor’s Training Course.
