Mental Health Worker - Partial Hospitalization (Meadville)

Job Summary:

Work daytime hours as a Mental Health Worker assisting in treatment room management and providing intensive behavior and mental health support including applying identified therapeutic interventions in a treatment room.

Essential Functions of the Position:

1. Provide behavioral backup in treatment room setting and crisis intervention.
2. Provide necessary support to Bethesda students in a treatment room setting.
3. Liaison between Bethesda Lutheran Services and involved outside agencies, schools, parents, etc.
4. Maintenance of assigned Bethesda client files.
5. Documentation of relevant information.
6. Plan and implement therapeutic groups as designated.
7. Counseling, therapeutic interventions.
8. Supervise client self administration of medication.
9. Assists with campus coverage as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to multitask.
2. Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written. T
3. Ability to de-escalate an emotionally charged or potentially violent situation using the least restrictive method possible.
4. Effective counseling skills.

Required Education, Experience and Clearances:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related field preferred.  A High School Diploma required.
2. Experience working with children and adolescents in the mental health field preferred.
3. Knowledge of CASSP and special education principles.
4. FBI, Child Abuse History, PA State Police, and Driver Clearances. Other clearances may be required dependent on residency status.

Physical Demands:

1. Lifting requirement of less than 20lbs on an occasional basis.
2. Ability to actively participate in recreational activities such as basketball, swimming, volleyball and walking.
3. Ability to perform a physical intervention which requires the strength to grasp, hold and maneuver a client into various positions involving standing, sitting, kneeling and laying.
