MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must possess an active PA Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least 2 years of experience without limitations
  • Must have worked at least 1 year as an RN in long term care as an RN.
    • Experience includes direct care, supervision, or education in meeting resident’s psychosocial, behavioral, cognitive, and physical needs.
  • CHRI without prohibitive offenses or pending charges at the time of employment is retained by program.
  • Current negative 2 step Mantoux, chest x-ray or QuantiFERON TB Gold
  • Must have completed the Teaching-The-Educator (TTE) Workshop before teaching Nurse Aides
  • Must be approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education BEFORE teaching begins.
  • Understand all Department of Education Regulatory requirements

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Reporting to the Program Administrator (Director of Community Education), the NATCEPT Instructor (RN) will be expected to establish a successful and supportive learning environment for a diverse workforce population with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. The NATCEPT Instructor (RN) is responsible for planning, teaching, and managing learning in a variety of settings that include the classroom, lab, and Clinical Site. The primary responsibilities include teaching a variety of key patient care concepts and skills. The Instructor of Nurse Aide Training will also work with other NPRC staff to plan, implement, and update programs and program materials necessary to meet program needs and standards. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as the Program Coordinator for the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requirements.
  • Deliver and supervise instruction in accordance with Federal and Commonwealth regulations, ensuring all required content areas are taught.
  • Provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, ensuring integration of theory and skills competency.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the NATCEP curriculum to ensure compliance with federal OBRA standards and PDE-approved program requirements.
  • Conduct and document student competency evaluations, ensuring students meet all skill and knowledge requirements prior to program completion.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready student records, including attendance, skills checklists, evaluations, and clinical performance documentation.
  • Ensure all instructional materials, quizzes, and examinations are current, evidence-based, and aligned with the approved curriculum.
  • Provide remediation and individualized instruction to support student success and competency attainment.
  • Provide direction to Resource Instructors/clinical instructors, ensuring consistency in instruction and evaluation practices.
  • Ensure student compliance with safety standards, including infection control, equipment use, and clinical protocols.
  • Maintain lab and instructional equipment, including inventory control and ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Coordinate and/or oversee student eligibility and scheduling for the state competency examination.
  • Participate in program evaluation and annual curriculum review, implementing revisions as necessary to maintain regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Participate in and support PDE monitoring, audits, and compliance reviews, including preparation of required documentation.
  • Maintain professional competency through continuing education and engagement in current nursing practices.
  • Assist with student recruitment, retention, and program promotion in collaboration with institutional leadership.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clinical sites and industry partners to support student learning and workforce needs.
  • Maintain and manage instructional schedules, including classroom, lab, and clinical hours, in compliance with program requirements.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Demonstrate and enforce professional standards of conduct consistent with healthcare and educational expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the compliant operation of the NATCEP program.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance.
  • Consistent access to a vehicle.
  • Resume must list the name and address of the long-term care facility in which at least 1 year of experience was obtained.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to obtain the following clearances and training:

  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History Record Check
  • Federal Criminal History Background Check
  • Training Certificate - Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania
  • Complete a yearly Tuberculosis Questionnaire

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Office assignment contingent upon business need
  • Work hours: As needed with typical work hours falling between 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Friday. Work hours may be adjusted to accommodate course scheduling and may include evenings and occasional Saturday’s.
  • Notwithstanding the office hours, full-time salaried employees are expected to work 40 hours weekly

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Infrequent travel required

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Perform other duties as assigned
