Childcare Worker (Nursery)

Areas of Responsibility
- Provide quality care of children under the age of 5 in a positive environment
- Adhere to Wayside’s Good Shepherd/Safe Child Policies
- Follow any special instructions indicated by parent(s)/legal guardians
- Change diapers as needed
- Alert parents of any illness, accidents, or behavior problems
- Maintain confidentiality: Report issues only to the parent(s)/legal guardians of
the child and to no one else.
- Report any issues or concerns to either Pastor or Christian Education Chair
- Keep nursery clean and disinfected
- Request cleaning supplies as needed.
- Be present and helpful with the youngest Sunday School class
Summer Work Schedule (June-August): Sunday morning arrival at 9:45am; leaving after all children picked up after 10:00 worship service; the service concludes at 11:00 and there is transition time for parents to pick up. Speak with Associate Pastor to determine if after worship coverage is needed. Even if no children arrive at beginning, childcare worker is to remain so care is available throughout the service.
Regular Work Schedule: Sunday morning arrival at 8:15am; leaving after all children are picked up after 11:00 worship service; the service concludes at noon and there is transition time for parents to pick up. During the Sunday School hour, be present and attentive with Pre-K Sunday School class at 9:45-10:45. Speak with Associate Pastor to determine if after worship coverage is needed. Even if no children arrive at beginning, childcare worker is to remain so care is available throughout the service.

Additional Supervision: Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee of Session
Collaboration: Spiritual Nurture and Education Committee
Contact Associate Pastor as early as possible to schedule Sunday off or to call off due to illness.
Requirements for Employment: 2-3 references, Pennsylvania State Police background check; ChildLine background check; FBI fingerprint background check (if applicant has lived outside of Pennsylvania at any point in the last ten years)
