GIRLS’ BASKETBALL TEAM HEAD COACH

JOB PURPOSE

Mercyhurst Prep is seeking a Head Coach for the Girls' Basketball Team. The coach provides vision, leadership and oversight for all aspects of the program. The primary responsibility is to train and coach the student-athletes participating on the team and to help each of them to achieve a high level of skill while also developing an appreciation for the value of sportsmanship.

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior basketball team coaching experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Technical knowledge of the sport along with the ability to teach and demonstrate specific skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of the standards and requirements of PIAA.
• Excellent and proven leadership skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills. 
• The ability to motivate a group of young individuals and facilitate team-building.
• A commitment to the academic achievement of the student-athletes.
• The ability to model good sportsmanlike behavior.
• To represent MPS and the team in a positive and professional manner.

This is a part-time, seasonal position with games in the winter and off-season workouts.

Successful candidates will be required to submit acceptable PA Child Abuse Clearances, PA Criminal History Clearance, FBI fingerprints as well Diocesan Youth Protection and Mandated reporter trainings.
