CHAPS is seeking a compassionate, empathetic, and organized Housing Advocate to support individuals and families experiencing housing instability. The Housing Advocate plays a key role in helping participants navigate barriers, access community resources, and move toward safe, stable, permanent housing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support and advocacy to program participants

  • Assist individuals in locating and securing safe, affordable housing

  • Develop and monitor housing plans in partnership with participants

  • Connect participants to mainstream benefits, employment, mental health, medical, and other community resources

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation

  • Collaborate with landlords, service providers, and community partners

  • Prioritize crisis situations and respond with sound judgment

  • Work both independently and as part of a team to achieve program goals

Qualifications & Skills

  • Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach when working with vulnerable populations

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

  • Self-directed and highly organized

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities

  • Familiarity with local housing and supportive service resources preferred
