CHAPS is seeking a compassionate, empathetic, and organized Housing Advocate to support individuals and families experiencing housing instability. The Housing Advocate plays a key role in helping participants navigate barriers, access community resources, and move toward safe, stable, permanent housing.
Provide individualized support and advocacy to program participants
Assist individuals in locating and securing safe, affordable housing
Develop and monitor housing plans in partnership with participants
Connect participants to mainstream benefits, employment, mental health, medical, and other community resources
Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation
Collaborate with landlords, service providers, and community partners
Prioritize crisis situations and respond with sound judgment
Work both independently and as part of a team to achieve program goals
Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach when working with vulnerable populations
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
Self-directed and highly organized
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities
Familiarity with local housing and supportive service resources preferred
