ERIE CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM
JOB TITLE: CAMPUS MINISTER
REPORTS TO: ECSS PRESIDENT
POSITION STATUS: FULL-TIME
Primary Purpose: The Campus Minister supports and strengthens the Catholic identity of the Erie Catholic School System by fostering faith formation, spiritual growth, and service among students, faculty, and staff. This role provides leadership in retreat programming, service coordination, and liturgical life across the school system, while working collaboratively with school leadership, parish priests, and diocesan clergy to promote Gospel values within the ECSS community.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, administers, and evaluates comprehensive retreat programs for students, faculty, and staff that promote faith development, evangelization, and leadership formation.
- Collaborates with school and system leadership to plan and coordinate school system–wide liturgical and spiritual events, including but not limited to school-wide Masses, Chapel Masses, Baccalaureate Masses, and Spiritual Journey Days for Erie Catholic faculty and staff.
- Works closely with parish priests, diocesan clergy, and women religious to plan and provide opportunities for prayer, sacramental celebrations, and other spiritual services across the school system.
- Coordinates with musical ministry personnel to select appropriate liturgical music that enhances student participation and enriches school liturgies and Eucharistic celebrations.
- Promotes the mission and Catholic identity of the Erie Catholic School System within the schools, parishes, and the broader community. Develops, administers, communicates, and evaluates service opportunities for students, faculty, and administrators.
- Designs and implements faith formation programs that integrate Gospel values across all six Erie Catholic schools.
- Attends and supports Campus Ministry events as required.
- Assists school and system administration in the planning and implementation of activities for Catholic Schools Week.
- Assists school and system administration with faculty faith development programs and initiatives.
- Maintains regular communication with principals, presidents, pastors, parish priests, parents, and students regarding Campus Ministry programs and activities.
- Provides support to Theology faculty when needed or requested.
- Will oversee service hour requirements for middle school students.
Required Qualifications:
- Practicing Roman Catholic
- Degree in Theology or comparable degree/credentials.
- Experience working with students in an educational environment.
- Experience with retreat planning and service planning
- Experience teaching the Catholic Faith
- Team player
- Organized, proactive, and thoughtful
- Listens well and accepts constructive criticism well.
- Knowledge of Church teachings both locally and globally.
- Understanding of the various faith practices within each that each school.
