HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR

Job Description

Reporting to:                         Vice President, Finance

Classification:                       Full-time, Exempt

Department:                          Human Resources

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Coordinator will lead the entire employee journey, from attracting and onboarding top talent to fostering a thriving workplace through employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management. They will be the expert on HR policy guidance and compliance, actively shaping the culture of Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) with new initiatives and ensuring our HR data is robust.

 

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:

  4. Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with others.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.

 

Human Resource Management:

  • Recruitment: Manage the full recruitment process, from identifying and screening candidates to coordinating interviews and extending offers.
  • Onboarding: Facilitate the new hire onboarding process, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all new employees.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, policy and procedure guidance, and conflict resolution.
  • Leader Guidance: Provide guidance and insight to leadership on HR policies and procedures.
  • Benefits Administration: Lead the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans. Respond to employee questions regarding benefits.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Performance Management: Support performance management processes, including annual reviews, goal setting, and potential disciplinary processes.
  • Programs & Initiatives: Participate in the development and implementation of employee development programs and initiatives that support our company culture and business objectives.
  • Policy & Procedure: With leadership, assist in the development, interpretation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Data Management: Maintain HR information systems and ensure data accuracy. Generate HR reports as needed.

 

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Finance and/or CEO.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field from an accredited college or university; and 2-3 years related human resources experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must effectively respond to common inquiries from employees and leadership. Must maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees. Must possess strong active listening skills and empathetic communication, coupled with the ability to remain objective and clearly articulate factual information, to effectively navigate difficult employee conversations while fostering understanding and facilitating constructive outcomes.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficiency in Windows based computer programs with strong Microsoft Office skills is required.  This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a team atmosphere, handle multiple projects, meet critical deadlines, and manage a flexible schedule.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
