Bookkeeper (or Accountant) - Part-time and semi-remote

Greater Erie Area Habitat for Humanity is seeking a part-time experienced nonprofit Bookkeeper (or Accountant) for 20-25 hours per week.

The hourly rate is between $23-25 based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. 

The ideal candidate will be proficient in QuickBooks, possess a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with the ability to handle financial data confidentially, accurately and efficiently.

Job Duties

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable, bill preparation, bank reconciliations.
  • Filing of sales tax, SIMPLE IRA payments, required reporting, etc.
  • Communicate with payroll provider, auditor, banks, IRS, and clients.
  • End of the month reporting.
  • Mortgage & escrow tracking & reconciliations.
  • Entries to donor & mortgage tracking systems.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the financial records.
  • Assist in budgeting & forecasting processes.
  • Maintain accurate & up-to-date accounts.
  • Filing financial documents.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks REQUIRED.
  • Needs to be accurate with keen attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred but not required
  • At Least 5 years of experience in increasing responsibility in accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-directed, with strong organizational abilities.
  • High work ethics and effective communication skills with staff, Habitat families, donors.

  • Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Habitat office.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
