Description:

LEAF is seeking a reliable, motivated Seasonal Park Assistant to support park maintenance, community events, and environmental education efforts. The ideal candidate is hands-on, enjoys working outdoors, and can juggle multiple tasks while maintaining clear communication with staff and volunteers.

Hours: 

Part-time, approximately 15-20 hours per week (flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as needed)

Duration: 

Summer 2025 (June–September, with potential for extension based on funding and needs)

The Team:

You will work under the direction of the Executive Director, Program Director, Community Outreach Manager, and Board of Directors. Your colleagues will include other park and grounds maintenance staff. You may also help oversee LEAF interns and volunteers, as applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete and update the park’s tree inventory using Hortis mapping software
  • Work alongside a summer intern assisting with mapping tasks
  • Water school planting sites as assigned
  • Assist with setup, teardown, and tabling for the LEAF Open Market and Frontier Friday events
  • Maintain cleanliness of the building between rentals
  • Support other grounds and maintenance tasks as needed

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and reliability
  • Experience with general groundskeeping, gardening, or park maintenance (preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills; experience with Hortis mapping software is a plus (training will be provided)
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions
