Job Title: Executive Director

Status: Exempt, salaried, full time

Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000

Season: Year-round

Probationary Period of 90 days from first day of work

Supervises: All Staff (7)

Purpose: The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Goodell Gardens & Homestead as its Chief Operating Officer.

Reports to: Board of Directors, Goodell Gardens & Homestead 

Job Description:

Goodell Gardens & Homestead seeks a dynamic and experienced executive who will enthusiastically embrace our mission and lead the organization with excellence. The ideal candidate will partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute a vision for the next chapter of Goodell Gardens & Homestead. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations including: fundraising; cultivating and retaining donors and sponsors; grant writing; program development and management; gardens and facilities management; mentoring and supervision of staff. The Executive Director is responsible for organizational leadership and communication; managing the Garden’s partnership with the community of Edinboro as well as the greater community and surrounding counties; public speaking as an arm of community outreach. The Executive Director is appointed by and reports to the Board of Directors.

 

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • History of success in management position; nonprofit organization preferred
  • Demonstrated visionary leadership and organizational management
  • Proven track record in fundraising and cultivating and retaining donors and sponsors is a major plus
  • Proven history of effective staff management, mentoring and development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with a nonprofit board preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong business and management skills with good understanding of budget, finance, and marketing
  • Experience with profitable and sustainable program development 
  • Ability to collaborate and work with diverse groups, community organizations and partners, elected officials, and other stakeholders
  • Proven competence with technology
  • Completed minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or proven leadership experience
  • The Executive Director is responsible for and evaluated on Leadership, Budget & Finance, Fundraising (cultivating and retaining donors and sponsors), Grant writing, 

Staff Relations, Communications, Community Involvement and Outreach.

  • Must possess or be eligible for clearances: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Report, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Criminal History Report.

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds 

 

Benefits:

Paid Holidays: 10 paid Holidays (New Year's Day, Christmas + 2, Thanksgiving + 1, and four (4) floating holidays in lieu of Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day).

Paid Time Off: 10 days with one day added each year up to 15 days.

Monthly Medical Expense Stipend

Paid Bereavement Leave up to 3 days available after one month of service.

A retirement program is available.
