Reporting to the Box Office Manager, the Box Office Assistant is responsible for providing quality customer service, cash handling, and ticketing services during scheduled box office hours. This position serves as an important point of contact for our patrons, providing information on upcoming and current events and serving as an ambassador to the Erie Playhouse. This is a part-time position requiring some weekend and evening hours. This person will typically work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and during select evening and weekend performances as scheduled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (included, but not limited to):

  • Provide in-person and over-the-phone ticket sales support to patrons during regular business hours and during performances as scheduled.
  • Provide in-person and over-the-phone assistance to patrons inquiring about current and upcoming events, performances, classes, auditions and other initiatives; and/or direct patrons to the appropriate staff member.
  • Assist Box Office staff with Patron Manager (ticketing database software), keep patron profiles up to date, and ensure that transactions are processed accurately and promptly.
  • Assist other staff with the completion of administrative tasks, as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Background in customer service and/or patron/guest relations – preferably with ticket sales experience.
  2. Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with patrons.
  3. Ability to work efficiently and accurately and to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.
  4. Computer proficiency including Patron Manager ticketing software (as trained)
  5. Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures, and fiscal responsibility, including PCI compliance, preferred, but not required (can be trained).
  6. Ability to work a flexible schedule with availability during regular box office hours, and some availability during evenings and/or weekends for performances, as needed.

  8. Passion for and/or experience in the performing arts preferred.
  9. Employment is conditional upon satisfactory background checks and clearances, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance.

Job Type: Part-time, 10 hours per typical week

Salary: $13 an hour
