Description

On behalf of our client, Tom Ridge Environmental Center Foundation (TRECF), Decision Associates is actively recruiting for the role of President/CEO. TRECF is a well-established non-profit organization located in Erie, Pennsylvania.  TRECF is seeking a President/CEO who will work closely with the staff and Board of Directors to help achieve its mission of enhancing educational programming, research, and the visitor’s experience of Presque Isle and the Great Lakes region. 

The President/CEO is responsible for managing and implementing all policies approved by the Board of Directors, including financial, personnel, planning and operating matters, grant-making, grant-seeking, and fundraising, as they relate toward accomplishing the organization’s mission. The President/CEO will have demonstrated experience in partnering and collaborating with partners, government bodies, funding sources, the public, and other stakeholders. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out the mission of TRECF at the direction of and in conjunction with the Board.
  • Create a strategic plan for the organization in partnership with the Board and other crucial organizational stakeholders that will enhance TRECF’s ability to stay true to the mission and achieve their ultimate ideal state.
  • Develop fundraising plans for annual funding and/or capital campaign(s), to include cultivation of prospective donors, identification of key metrics, monitoring the progress of fundraising and outreach activities, and providing regular reports to the Board.
  • Direct and oversee the organization’s finances, including donations/grants, expenses, and debt structure, in collaboration with the Board and Board Treasurer.
  • Prepare and recommend annual budgets to the Board.
  • Conduct financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Create and execute a grant funding plan as authorized by the Board to secure funding for projects as needed.
  • Create and maintain effective communication and relationships with key stakeholders including the Board, volunteers, community leaders, tenants, donors/funding sources, media, and employees, and other partners/partner organizations.
  • Represent TRECF at community and neighborhood meetings and events related to the projects, mission, goals, and objectives of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain updated job descriptions for all positions within the organization.
  • Review and modify staffing and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Prepare agendas and supporting materials for Board meetings and provide to Board members in advance of each meeting.
  • Conduct follow-up after Board meetings, ensuring minutes are sent out in a timely manner and action items are communicated to relevant parties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or related field is required.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, or related field is highly desired.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a CEO, President/CEO, or other organizational/operations leadership role.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and resolve complex issues, understanding stakeholder interests and balance to achieve organizational goals.
  • Polished verbal communication skills, including interpersonal, presentation, writing and public speaking skills. Ability to communicate complex subject matter, and to advocate effectively.
  • High level of financial acumen and a strong understanding of the financials of an organization, accounting standards, controls, and best practices.
  • Ability to think strategically and envision future possibilities and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the strategies.
  • Strong collaborator with a proven record of building meaningful partnerships with staff, volunteers, donors, board of directors and strategic partners.
