Religion Teacher, Elementary and Middle School

Mother Teresa Academy, part of Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System, is a kindergarten through 8th grade Catholic school in the Diocese of Erie and is dedicated to offering a Christ-centered education to inner-city students of Erie, PA. We are the only mission-based Catholic school in the City of Erie.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced middle school Religion Teacher to join our team. Our ideal candidate has a passion for shaping and enhancing the learning of our students, a desire to embrace the mission of our school, a high standard for academic excellence, is creative and organized. We are looking for someone who can build and maintain positive relationships with our students, families, administration, and fellow staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction to address departmental standards.
• Prepare lessons, grade student work, maintain digital gradebook, use school software, and program coordination.
• Work collaboratively with a team, focused on student achievement and developing data-driven interventions.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with parents.
• Maintain a classroom environment that promotes trust, respect, teamwork, and an overall healthy relationship with children.
• Be present at all staff meetings, retreats, and school events/celebrations.
• Assist with vigilance during lunch, school arrival, dismissal, prayer services, and other class or school gatherings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
• Be a practicing Catholic
• PA Certification in Education
• Must be able to support the mission of the school

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of Religion teaching experience
• Master’s degree in education
