STAFF ACCOUNTANT

The Erie Community Foundation seeks a Staff Accounting to join their team.
Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will provide support to the finance department, maintaining a broad knowledge of organizational operations and policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Accounts Payable
- Process weekly administrative payments.
- Maintain vendor and grantee W-9s, invoices, and database records.
Gifts
- Review cash book.
- Deposit contributions to the bank.
- Record all contributions in database.
Investments
- Prepare investment-related journal entries.
- Reconcile investment accounts monthly.
General Accounting
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly for The Foundation, affiliate foundations, and supporting organizations.
- Prepare cash account-related journal entries.
- Prepare reports as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
Annual Needs
- Assist with year-end audit schedules and documentation.
- Assist with Form 990 schedule preparation.
- Assist with Form 1099 preparation.
- Assist with end-of-year closing processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the successful operation of The Foundation.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Knowledge of office processes, practices, and computer software applications.
- Excellent project management and critical thinking skills, including the ability to articulate progress, concerns, and recommendations.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision.
- Possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, and trustworthiness.
- Demonstrate positive work attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills, diligence, and time management.
- Experience working collaboratively as a team and providing support to co-workers.
- Must have positive a rapport with all staff members as part of the team, the Board of Trustees, donors, and agencies.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and have the ability to learn new and/or specific computer programs; preference given to individuals with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience.
- Strong preference for experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business or accounting.
- 3+ years' accounting experience, preferably with a nonprofit or foundation.
- Strong working knowledge of fund accounting strongly preferred.
